Until today, we have maintained a single Twitter profile for all of our tweets - http://twitter.com/sendgrid. Our ultimate goal is to provide value for our followers, so if you feel that we can improve in terms of the activity @SendGrid, please share your ideas with the community. If you are not following already, we’d love for you to join the conversation.
From now on we will maintain a second Twitter profile, dedicated to tweets that pertain directly to the operation of our service. You can find this new profile at http://twitter.com/sendgrid_ops. We have used the hashtag #status within the @SendGrid feed to denote these type of messages, but after hearing feedback from customers and deliberating internally, we decided that it would be best to provide two separate feeds.
What this means to you:
All tweets that pertain to the operations of the SendGrid service will still contain the hashtag “#status”. However, these tweets will now appear in both @SendGrid and @SendGrid_Ops Twitter feeds.
The Reason to our Rhyme:
We found that users would appreciate the option of receiving #status updates only or the ability to simply separate common traffic from critical traffic.
For example, Todd at Fooala pointed out the following: When signing up for SMS alerts from Twitter, one may only want to receive a text message when the information coming through is critical to their email delivery service. That same person would likely opt-out of receiving any texts that that don’t include urgent news.
