Elmer Thomas on Twitter • Elmer Thomas on Google+In January, my fellow Dev Evangelist, Swift, and I attended PennApps, a 48 hour hackathon at UPenn in Philadelphia. PennApps is the biggest university hackathon in the world (500+ attendees!) and is organized and hosted by UPenn students. Swift attended PennApps in the fall of 2012 and after having a great experience, was really looking forward to seeing what the students would bring in the spring. We weren’t disappointed! Swift did a live demo of the SendGrid API that utilizes Tumblr and an Arduino board (that showed his love for a certain popular Ryan Gosling meme!). Check it out. There were a ton…
READ MORE »As a SendGrid Developer Evangelist, a primary objective is to help make the lives of developers easier. To this end, our Developer Evangelist team examines our APIs and external resources from the view point of our users. From the novice to the expert, patterns emerge over time. One of those patterns I continue to witness is the lack of true “Zone” time. Creation requires a sustained effort to truly realize its potential. This post is designed to help you create more “Zone” time, igniting your passion for innovation. The spirit of this blog post is derived from the talk of…

After meeting with a few of the tech leaders there, it was clear that this visit to Mexico would bear amazing fruits (or agave ). Speaking of agave, my first stop was the home of Agave Labs founder Andy Kieffer, where he hosted more than 15 Mexico based tech leaders where his amazing wife Kristina treated us all to delicious cuisine as we contemplated the future of the tech community in Guadalajara. The following day, I took a tour of the Hacker Garage, where…

READ MORE »While I did not attend Google I/O, I had the great pleasure to attend two hackathons that week. The first at Google’s SF offices, then at Mashery’s headquarters. After being treated to good eats by Google’s own chefs, we witnessed an unprecendented Startup Weekend style startup…
